An Tanaiste visits Boyle for a number of engagements
An Tanaiste Leo Varadkar paid a visit to Boyle on Friday afternoon to undertake a number of engagements.
While in the area he also officially opened the Shed Distillery in Drumshanbo and turned the sod on the Strand Campus in Strandhill with a number of job announcements made in both locations.
An Tanaiste was accompanied on his visit by Minister of State Frank Feighan.
His first engagement in Boyle was in Feelystone where he unveiled a plaque to mark the occasion of the company celebrating 241 years in business.
Managing Director Finbarr Feely gave the Tanaiste and his entourage a tour of the factory and presented a brief video of the companies 241 year history.
Both Finbarr and his brother Shane also took the opportunity to thank An Tanaiste for the assistance the Government provided to businesses during the Covid crisis and to let him know the problems faced by companies like theirs.
Barry Feely also presented Mr. Varadkar with a copy of his book ‘They Dared to Challenge’.
It was then on to the Royal Building where An Tanaiste was briefed by Boyle Town Team Chairman Brian Nerney on the ongoing work at that location and other projects currently in the pipeline for the town.
Before his departure, a visit was made to Minister Feighan’s constituency office on Bridge Street.
