There is good news for Boyle this morning as the town has recorded the largest decline in commercial vacancy rates among the 12 towns in Connacht surveyed in the latest GeDirectory report.
The vacancy rate for Q2 2021 in Boyle was 19.7%, a drop of 2.2% on the equivalent period in 2020.
Two towns in County Roscommon were among the 12 in Connacht surveyed – Boyle and Roscommon, with Roscommon’s commercial vacancy rate standing at 24.2%.
Ballina in Co. Mayo, had the highest vacancy rate among the selected towns in Connacht at 25.1%, while Westport was the only town to register a vacancy rate below the national average at 12.7%.
The report also shows that of the commercial addresses surveyed in Boyle, 51.5% are classed as service, 27.8% retail and wholesale, 9.8% health, 1% industry, 1.5% construction, 2.1% education, 4.1% public admin, 2.1% financial.
GeoDirectory was jointly established by An Post and Ordnance Survey Ireland (OSi) to create and manage Ireland’s only complete database of commercial and residential buildings. The figures are recorded through a combination of the An Post network of 5,600 delivery staff working with OSi.
The GeoDirectory database is used by many different companies and organisations across a diverse range of applications, including the emergency services, utility companies, banking and insurance providers, and all local authorities.
