The annual Lough Key Triathlon, due to take place in Boyle’s Lough Key Forest Park this August is yet another casualty of the Covid-19 crisis.
In a statement the club said: “Having considered all options and in the interest, safety and wellbeing of all our club members, athletes and race partners, the Lough Key Club executive have regrettably made the decision to postpone this years 2020 Sprint Triathlon”.
“The event had been fixed for Sunday 30th August and while we are disappointed that our annual Sprint event will not happen this year, we assure you that the event will be back bigger and better in 2021”.
“By making an early call on this decision it will give members and athletes a chance to possibly consider some other event options as the season develops”.
“We hope and expect when the current Covid restrictions are relaxed in the next numbers of weeks that some further club activities can recommence”.
“All of this will be guided by HSE advice and current national protocols. However the main thing is to keep safe in these strange times and keep the training going”.
