Gardai in Boyle are assisting their colleagues in Carrick on Shannon following the discovery on Monday of cannabis herb with an estimated value of €30,000.
It is understood a member of the public reported a male acting suspiciously on the outskirts of the Leitrim town on Monday evening last at approximately 6.15pm.
After Gardai arrived at the scene, they searched a male in his late thirties and allegedly discovered a large quantity of cannabis herb and a sum of money.
The male was arrested and detained at Carrick on Shannon Garda Station under section 2 of the Criminal Justice Act 1996.
