Boyle Musical Society update
Rehearsals for ‘Sister Act’ have been well underway since early September and with just over five weeks until opening night, the cast, committee and production team are hard at work and looking forward to bringing this spectacular show to life for the first time, on the Boyle stage.
Tickets will be going on sale in the next few weeks and details of where they can be purchased from, will be announced here shortly. The seating plan will also be available to view on www.boylemusicalsociety.com in the coming weeks.
Everybody should be familiar with ‘Sister Act’, which is based on the 1992 film. Set in Philadelphia, it follows the fortunes and misfortunes of nightclub singer, Deloris Van Cartier who ends up in a witness relocation programme, hiding in a Convent from gangsters and her ex-boyfriend. While there, she gets involved with the local choir and sets about bringing in some much needed donations, while trying to go unnoticed.
With music by Alan Menken, lyrics by Glenn Slater and songs like ‘Raise Your Voice’, ‘Take Me To Heaven’, ‘Sunday Morning Fever’ and ‘Do The Sacred Mass’, you can expect some serious hand clapping, uplifting, foot stomping, God fearing, Gospel and Soul!
‘Sister Act’ is Boyle Musical Society’s 36th annual show and it will be staged over four nights in St. Joseph’s Hall, from Wed. November 20th to Sat. November 23rd.
