FITT FACTORY

The highly acclaimed Fitt Factory in Boyle has now opened for the 2019 season With 20+ classes per week planned, 10 different styles of class, loads of great equipment and 6 different instructors, there is something for everyone. And with all classes open to both men and women, free secure parking and shower facilities, all in a warm and friendly facility, now is the time to plan to shed the Christmas and New Year excess and book your class at the Fitt Factory in Boyle. LOOKING AFTER YOUR BRAIN

Join Dr. Wilma Lourens at Ardcarne Garden Centre, Boyle, Saturday 19th January 11am – 12.30pm for another talk on how to reduce your risk of developing cognitive decline or Alzheimer’s. This talk will focus on the importance of foods, eating patterns and the importance of exercise. CHERISH THE LADIES

Delighted to announce that “Cherish the Ladies” will return to the Coleman Centre, Gurteen on the 19th January 2019 at 8.30pm. Last year they had two outstanding sell out show’s by these exceptionally talented musicians and are looking forward to welcoming them back this year. Joanie Madden began taking lessons from legendary flutist and National Heritage Award winner Jack Coen, and within a few short years, she had achieved great success winning the world championship in Irish music on both the concert flute and tin whistle. Mary Coogan became a self-taught guitar, mandolin and bouzouki player. Mirella Murray studied the piano accordion with Mary Finn (Ballymote, Co.Sligo) and it was at music classes that she met up with fiddler Liz Kane from Letterfrack and went to win the accordion All-Ireland championship and duet All-Ireland championship with Liz Kane. Kathleen Boyle is a talented pianist and accordion player and has won All-Scotland and All-Britain titles on both instruments. Nollaig Casey with her own unique way of playing traditional Irish music on the fiddle and has such a distinctive sound that it would be impossible to mistake it for that of anyone else. This will be a sell-out concert, early booking advisable.

LOUGH KEY SPRINT TRIATHLON 2019

Race takes place Sunday 1st September – Entries Open 9am 1st February on the Triathlon Ireland website!! Entries will be limited to 500 competitors and as one of the final rounds of the BMW National Series we are expecting a sell out entry like previous years!

SPRING HEALTH WELLBEING & CRAFT FAIR

Bookings are now being taken for the Spring Health and Wellbeing Craft Fair that will take place in Boyle on Sunday March 10th, The Fair will take place in the Spool Factory Event Centre from 12 noon to 6pm. The event will feature complementary therapists, crafters, soap makers, crystals etc. For more details contact Lucy on  0896014843. Some stalls are already booked and places are limited.

BOYLE ATHLETIC CLUB TRAINING SCHEDULE

Boyle Athletic Club training continues from the Royal car park at 7.30pm.The training run lasts one hour. Training Schedule: Tuesday 7.30pm to 8.30pm (From Royal car park) Thursday 7.30pm to 8.30pm (From Royal car park) Sunday 10am (From Lough Key Forest Park) Please bring a headlamp and hi vis to training if you have one. The run departs at 7:30pm sharp so please arrive 7:15/20pm for pre run brief. Training is for members only, of which there are currently over 100.

A MUST FOR YOUR DIARY

Boyle GAA to host ‘I’m a Celebrity’ Excitement is building ahead of next year’s Boyle GAA organised ‘I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here’ fundraiser. The event will take place on Saturday March 16th in St. Joseph’s Hall. 24 contestants will battle it out to see who is the ‘King or Queen of the Jungle’. The main sponsor of the night is LandEscape Pty Ltd, the Australian company run by Boyle man Padraig Sweeney. Based on the popular TV show, this event is unlike anything you have seen before! Contestants are fully dressed in their campsite costumes and compete alongside live snakes, reptiles and spiders surrounded by a jungle background.

COURTYARD MARKET

The all weather Courtyard Market takes place every Saturday in the grounds of King House, Boyle from 10am until 2pm. If you would like to enjoy the best locally grown fresh and organic produce, then a trip to the Courtyard Market should be on your agenda. There is a wide range of seasonal produce, including organic fruit and vegetables, homemade jams and marmalade, organic free range eggs, fruit juices, gluten free/ sour dough/ spelt bread and all kinds of delicious home bakes are available every week. Alongside the food stalls are a number of crafters selling their handmade wares, personalized candles and knitwear.
