Job opportunities in the pipeline after terms agreed to purchase the former Green Isle factory in Boyle – Feighan
Local Government TD, Frank Feighan has welcomed the news that terms have been agreed to purchase the former Green Isle factory in Boyle.
“This is very positive news for the town and I understand that a similar line of business is being developed for the factory.
“Significantly, the jobs prospects for the town and surrounding areas is very good and I expect further information in the future on the exact developments for the former breading factory, which closed in 2006 with the loss of more than 100 jobs.
“There have been ongoing efforts to promote the facility to suitable investors. Indeed, just last February, Minister of State for Small Business John Perry and Enterprise Ireland Director Barry Egan met with a local delegation in Boyle recently to explore ways of attracting potential investors to develop the factory.
“At that meeting, the Boyle delegation, comprising members of Boyle Town Council and myself, discussed a range of proposals regarding the site with Minister John Perry and Barry Egan.
“I’m delighted that plans for the factory have now progressed and it has always been the case that Boyle has much to offer investors, including good road and air links and renowned natural scenery and heritage.”
Last month, speculation that a jobs announcement was imminent were denied to Boyletoday.com by the auctioneer who has sale of the plant – John Earley and by Enterprise Ireland and the IDA who said they had no knowledge of any imminent jobs announcement for the old Green Isle plant or Boyle town.
