A teenager has been arrested following a shooting incident in Athlone on Saturday night.
The youth was brought to Athlone Garda Station and held under Section 30 of the Offences Against The State Act 1939.
The shooting took place in the Retreat Road area of the town shortly after 9.30am.
The victim, in his 20’s, received gunshot wounds to his lower leg and was brought to Tullamore Hospital and has since been released.
Athlone Gardai on 090 64 92600 are investigating.
