Boyle Gardai are investigating a serious road traffic collision at Carrickmore on the old Carrick Road outside the town on Sunday evening.
The single vehicle crash took place between the turn off to Maple Drive and the Kilbryan junction with the N4 shortly after 7pm.
Boyle Fire and Rescue Service and Boyle Gardai attended at the scene.
The driver of the car was brought by ambulance to Sligo University Hospital.
Forensic crash scene investigators attended and the road remained closed for a number of hours, reopening at 11pm.
