Club Rossie receives thumbs up
Club Rossie, the proposed commercial and fundraising body for Gaelic Games in the county, received the backing of all sectors of the GAA and sister associations at a landmark meeting in the Abbey Hotel, Roscommon on Monday night last.
The meeting, which was chaired by Roscommon GAA Chairperson Michael Fahey, featured a presentation by Club Rossie Chairperson David O’Connor who outlined the structure and plans of the proposed body; many of which are very innovative and ambitious. After the presentation the representatives of the various Gaelic Games sectors; John Donoghue (Roscommon Handball), Christy McDermott (Hurling Committee Chairperson), Liz Madden (Scór Committee Secretary), Seamus Maher (Ladies Gaelic Chairperson) and Peter Mullen (Camogie Chairperson) discussed ways in which all sides can work closer together for the betterment of Gaelic Games in the County. This positive discussion will lead to the increased sharing of resources and facilities including the Roscommon GAA Gym, which is being offered to Ladies teams once insurance and other issues are finalised.
Club Rossie will be formally launched next month ahead of Roscommon’s Allianz Football League meeting with Wexford in Kiltoom on February 9th. The group are actively looking for energetic people to get involved in assisting the project, which will take Gaelic Games in Roscommon to the next level, on and off the pitch. Anybody with a background in finance, sales, marketing or associated fields who would be interested in getting involved is asked to contact Club Rossie on 0868399584 or via email: [email protected] .
