Countdown on to Run Walk n Roll

Boyle towns 20th annual 5.5km Fun Run/Walk in aid of Cancer Research will take place on Sunday next  the 11th October  from  St. Joseph’s Hall at 2pm.
Originally known as the Terry Fox Run, it started in Boyle in 1996 with around 60 participants and raised around £500.
Over the last 19 years the event has gone from strength to strength and raised in excess of €15.000 in the years 2004, 2005 and 2006 with on occasion over 400 participants of all ages and abilities taking part.
Over the last nineteen years the Boyle event has raised €154,000 for Cancer Research in Ireland .
This is a remarkable sum of money for a small town and shows the generosity of the locality and we  hope there have been some benefits to sufferers over the years through better pain relief, more targeted treatments, better survival rates and hopefully better quality of life for cancer patients.
In 2011 the event was rebranded and is now known as Run Walk n Roll for Research.
This  years event is starting at St. Josephs Hall and is going via Crescent, Bridge St.,Military Rd., Abbeytown , Warren , Maple Drive ,Carrick Rd. and returning to the hall via Marian Rd to complete the 5.5km route .
There will be a Irish Cancer Society T-Shirt and a special 20th Anniversary wristband for all finishers.
Refreshments will be served in the hall afterwards and the perpetual trophies will be presented to the 1st Male and 1st Female home.
Registration will take place in the hall from 12.30pm and entry is €10.00 per person with family and child concessions.
This is a healthy day out for all ages to have fun and raise funds for research.
Look us up on Facebook,  you never  who you might see .
