Explosive device found near Carrick
A viable explosive device has been made safe near Carrick on Shannon by the Army Bomb Disposal Team.
The suspect device was found this morning in a rural woodland area 5km north of the town.
A cordon and road closures were put in place for public safety.
The device was made safe at the scene without the need for a controlled explosion.
A number of items were handed over to the Gardaí.
The scene was declared safe at 12.15 pm.
