Passenger increase at Knock Airport
Passenger numbers through Ireland West Airport Knock are continuing to increase.
The first 3 months of this year saw 113,000 people travelling through the Mayo airport – which is a 13% increase on the same period last year.
Managing director Joe Gilmore says there’s increased demand particularly on flights to and from the UK – partly due to the sterling rate.
Mr Gilmore says they’re looking forward to a busy Summer season, following on from one of the busiest-ever Easter weekends.
He has also welcomed the announcement earlier by Minister Michael Ring of a grant of almost 250,000 euro towards vital security equipment for the airport.
