Saturday night will be cold with a widespread frost. Showers will continue near west coasts, but elsewhere it will be mainly dry. Westerly winds will be light or moderate.
Frost will clear on Sunday morning and much the day will be dry and bright. However, towards evening rain is set to develop in the southwest together with strengthening southerly winds, though it doesn’t look the winds will be as strong as they were in recent windy events.
The rain will clear the east on Monday morning and the rest of Monday is looking mainly dry. Winds will moderate and there will be some sunshine as well.
However, another spell of wet and rather windy weather is set to develop again early on Monday night. This will probably clear all areas by Tuesday morning but it is likely that it will stay breezy with occasional showers for the rest of New Year’s Eve and into the night also.
New Year’s Day is looking unsettled as well with further showers and possibly strong winds.
