Abbey Community College in Boyle is among the 730 schools nationwide that will remain closed today in the second one day strike by the Association of Secondary Teachers Ireland (ASTI) and the Teachers’ Union of Ireland (TUI) which together represent 27,000 post-primary teachers nationwide.
The strike which centres on plans to reform the junior certificate will affect more than 333,000 students across the country in addition to disrupting plans for their parents and guardians.
