Academy nomination for Boyle man
Kilkenny based animation company Cartoon Saloon’s animated feature film Song of the Sea has been announced as a nominee for the 87th Academy Awards.
Produced by Boyle man Paul Young, Song of the Sea is based around the legend of the Selkies and follows the adventures of Saoirse and her brother Ben.
It features the voices of Lucy O’Connell, David Rawle (from Mooneboy fame), Lisa Hannigan, Brendan Gleeson, Fionnula Flanagan, Jon Kenny, Pat Shortt, Liam Hourican and Colm Ó Snodaigh.
Cartoon Saloons Secret of Kells was a nominee in the 2010 Oscars.
