On a crisp but dry May Saturday morning, approximately 1000 people took to the streets of Boyle to participate in the annual Darkness into Light walk.
The attendance lined the width of Crescent from Boyle Sports all the way up to The Stairs Gastro Pub ahead of the 4.15am start for the annual event.
Darkness into Light is the main fundraiser for Pieta House who provide vital services to those who are in suicidal distress, who engage in self harm whilst also offering bereavement support to those who need it.
All of these services are provided free of charge as a result of funds raised from your participation in Darkness into Light.
The 5k route in Boyle was lined with tea lights as the walkers and runners made their way around the 5k circuit.
A welcoming cup of tea and some refreshments awaited in St. Joseph’s Hall following the event.
The organisers would like to thank all who came out in such large numbers to support Boyle Darkness into Light which was deemed a great success.
