More Blueway exposure for Boyle
The good news continues for Boyle.
Hot on the heels of word that Boyle got an enviable mention in the National Development Plan comes news that the town is to be included further in the Shannon Blueway.
Director of Finance with Roscommon County Council, Martin Lydon told a recent meeting of the Local Authority that “projects are progressing to bring the Blueway trail from Carrick on Shannon to Lough Key and onto Boyle”.
It is understood Mr Lydon was referring to an extension of the proposed Lough Key to Boyle Greenway to include a link up with the Shannon Blueway project.
“The project is currently being looked at as we speak”. Mr Lydon informed the Councillors.
The Shannon Blueway is an innovative and easy to use series of on-water and land based trails.
It provides for guided and unguided paddling, walking and cycling.
The Shannon Blueway showcases a wonderful network of trails all the way from the foot of Lough Allen as far as Ballyleague / Lanesborough.
