180 cyclists enjoy Lough Key Classic
Over 180 cyclists took to the roads around Boyle on Sunday morning for the 5th annual Lough Key Classic Cycling Sportive.
The weather held dry for most of the event but there was still a chill in the air as the riders departed at 9am and 10am.
Organised by local cycling club Curlieu Wheelers, the event attracted cyclists from all over Ireland.
Two distances were on offer – 120k and 70k, with an optional King of the Mountains section climbing the Old Mail Coach road section of the Curlew Mountain.
Over 30 marshals assisted by members of An Garda Siochana ensured a safe passage for all cyclists.
Mid route food stop was in King House with the end of cycle food served in the Sports Complex.
Club chairman Declan Noone thanked all who cycled and all who made the day possible and said a full thank you list will issue in due course.
